Part 1: Saturday, August 5, 2023 / 2pm
Participants will learn how to create a lidded butter dish out of clay using a slab-building technique. They will learn how to use stamps, rollers and other objects to create patterns and texture on the surface of the clay. Using a template, they will cut out the needed parts, score and slip the pieces together. The pieces will be left to dry and be bisque fired by the instructor and brought back for the second session.
Part 2: Saturday, August 19, 2023 / 2pm
Participants will apply a colored glaze to their works, choosing from more than 50 colors. Afterwards, the instructor will apply a clear coat and fire the pieces again. Finished pieces will be available for pickup at a later date.
About the Instructor
Danyelle Payne has been creating pottery for 3 years. She began when she took a class with her kids and immediately fell in love with clay. She took every class that was available at the local studio and was eventually offered a teaching position there. She has since built her own private studio at home and now enjoys selling her creations at markets, teaching and further developing her skills.
Free and open to the public.
